Who Would Want to Go to Church?

In John's gospel, Jesus asks some prospective followers, "What do you want?" This is followed by an invitation to "Come and see."

Today people may be reluctant to check out the church. Many other places come to mind first when people are searching for a spiritual practice.

I like the quote from Nancy Mairs in her memoires, "Ordinary Time". She said that she returned to church to "prepare a space into which belief could flood."

Is there a power greater than ourselves? Might the sacred practises that have been used for 2000 years help us to connect with that power?

And is there some value to being part of a community - watching young children grow into competent, caring teenagers? Being involved with people as they age and live through the many challenges that life can bring our way?

As you search for meaning in your life, as you ask the big questions, we invite you to "come and see" whether our place might be a place where you can grow spiritually with companions on the journey.
